Immersed in the world of stories across various mediums, Kanika Dhillon is an author, screenwriter and producer with a firm belief in the power of storytelling. Not only has she harnessed her power of the written word through her three acclaimed novels - Bombay Duck is a Fish (2011), Shiva and the Rise of the Shadows (2013) and The Dance of Durga (2016); but also through the medium of cinema, both as a writer and producer.

The diversity in the genres and characters she creates, is a result of her desire to achieve a distinct freshness in entertainment.
Known for curating strong female narratives through characters such as Rumi from Mannmarziyaan, Mukku from Kedarnath, Nanki from Guilty, Bobby from Judgemental Hai Kya and Rani from Haseen Dillruba amongst others – Kanika has always shaped her women as they are in reality: Raw, rooted, fiery and vulnerable all at the same time.

In 2024, after the phenomenal success of the first original pulp franchise Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, Dhillon launched her production house Kathha Pictures.

It’s first film which she wrote and produced was the Netflix Original Do Patti, starring Kriti Sanon and Kajol, which also received huge audience acclaim. The next project in the pipeline for Kanika is the Taapsee Pannu starrer action-thriller Gandhari, also under her banner Kathha Pictures.
